It works well for strobist style shoots, as it's got a really easy manual power control, and is a lot more powerful than many hotshoe guns. I've got a Metz 60CT-4, which was the big brother to the 45x series. You have to register to read, but they're cool about what they send you via email. This article from will give you lots to chew on. Also they're designed to be used off camera, so yes, for the style touted in this forum, they're definitely an option. They're rock solid reliable, portable, powerful and have been one of the industry standards for years. Also I know that they don't have a hotshoe therefore PC cables are required. I'm referring to METZ 45 CL / CT 4 not the CT 1 as I realise that there are some big voltage issues with these. Is this due to their costs, incompatibility or something else? Reading through the posts, I've seen very little mentioned of METZ products.
